Clippy
A fast, hotkey-driven clipboard manager for Windows.
free
Clippy keeps a searchable history of everything you copy, text, images, links, files, and folders, and puts it all one hotkey away. Copy is a one-way street on Windows by default: you lose what you had the moment you copy something new. Clippy fixes that.
Features
Instant access
- Hotkey overlay (default Ctrl+Shift+V, fully rebindable) drops down from the top of the screen with your recent clipboard history
- Horizontally scrollable card view, most recent first, normal mouse scroll just works
- Auto-closes after a few seconds of inactivity, or dismiss manually
- Click a card to copy it back to your clipboard; drag cards out directly for files and multi-select drag-out
Everything you copy, organized
- Text, images, links, and files/folders all get their own card treatment
- Links show the site's favicon instead of a generic icon where available
- Color values (hex, RGB, HSL, and more) are auto-detected and shown as a swatch with the value, ready to copy in any format
- Each card shows its source app and a timestamp, so you know where something came from
Search and collections
- Fuzzy, forgiving text search across your whole history, best match first
- Pin items to Favorites so they're never pruned
- Create custom categories, shown as quick-filter pills above your history
Built to not get in your way
- A hard cap on stored history keeps things fast and your disk usage predictable
- Files and folders can be kept as lightweight path references or safely copied in full, your choice
- Sensitive-looking clipboard content (passwords, API keys) is handled with care rather than stored like everything else
The details
Clippy is free and built for Windows. It runs quietly in the background and stays out of the way until you need it, one hotkey press away from anything you've recently copied.
